Lewisham’s trees 2023
The Need to Increase Lewisham’s Tree Canopy
We need to increase tree canopy in response to climate change, while preserving other important biodiverse habitat such as species rich grassland. This approach is supported by the Mayor of London, UK Climate Change Committee, Natural England, Woodland Trust, National Trust, DEFRA, CPRE London, World Economic Forum.
Lewisham Council in the Lewisham Climate Emergency Strategic Action Plan 2020-2030 estimates that there are “30,000 mature trees in the borough, and we”(Lewisham Council)” want to extend this working with local communities to maximise the benefits of trees for Lewisham”.
Festival Crowd Ltd event at Mountsfield Park – August 2023
Lewisham Council have given permission for Festival Crowd Ltd to hold their private Garage Nation event at Mountsfield Park, Catford. Festival Crowd Ltd installed security hoardings 07/08/2023, around the cricket pitch, timber fitness equipment and part of the Catford ParkRun route. These activities will continue as normal, following reinstatement when the hoardings come down. The event will be 12th and 13th August 2023.

Walkout Workout Event
Sevenfields Primary Care Network : Invites you to Walkout Workout
It has been a key project for Dr Helen Tattersfield of the Sevenfields Primary Care Network since 2021 to get TGO gyms up and running and this is the main reason why I’ve been employed by Sevenfields to lead this project. I have a personal trainer/coaching motivator (group or 1 on 1) background behind me and have been a personal trainer since 2016.
Our main objective for this project is to bring awareness to the Sevenfields primary care network patients and residents who live close to the mentioned parks below which have The great outdoor gyms within.
During 2022 Sevenfields PCN worked in partnership with Lewisham Council and Phoenix Community Housing to deliver four new outdoor Gyms, these gyms are now active and passed to the community, the venues are:
- Durham Hill Park
- Forster Memorial Park
- Mountsfield Park SE6 1AN (Location: bright green fitness equipment near the bandstand and cafe)
- Shroffold Green On Saturday 29th April we will have a celebration, Walkout – Workout, event where we will invite the whole community to participate on the equipment.
Designed and manufactured by The Great Outdoor Gym Company (TGO), the gyms feature safe and inclusive equipment.
Local residents and Sevenfields patients will be invited to increase their physical activity and boost wellbeing. We also hope that because the Gyms are based locally that residents will walk to the parks and use the equipment.
There are cardio and strength activities for beginners through to exercise pros – and most importantly, in the current climate, it’s all free to use.
9.30-10:00am Gather Mountsfield Park SE6 1AN (Separate event from Catford Park Run which will be happening at the same time)
